Houston Pride 2019 Brings Diversity, Young M.A, Lizzo and New Events

Happy Houston Pride everyone! Who else is excited about this special time of year? YASSS! As mentioned before, the LGBTQ scene in Houston is leaving an impression on the rest of the community and guess what? WE LOVE IT!

This year is an extra special year as we are elated to see our annual pride celebration reflecting the diverse population here in the Space City. This year we have a number of queer people of color included in the Grand Marshal lineup as well as in the talent portion of the festival itself. Did we mention there’s a flurry of new events popping up too? Let’s get into it!

First stop is the Grand Marshal Lineup! This year we have a few people of color representing for Houston including Judge Shannon B. Baldwin, our Female-Identifying Grand Marshal, Harrison Homer-Guy our Male-Identifying Grand Marshal, and Mike Webb, our Gender Non-Binary Grand Marshal. They represent all of the amazing Black, Queer people that thrive within the Houston Gay community. We are OVERJOYED to see them represent H Town this year. Kudos to all of them!

This year Houston Pride has recruited some AMAZING talent to take the stage during the pride parade. Singer Lizzo, and rapper Young M.A have been added which is MAJOR! We can’t wait to see Miss Lizzo hit the stage! There are also a number of events taking place leading up the big parade ranging from pool parties to a sober skate night. You can find out all about the official pride events HERE.

If you plan on coming to Houston Pride this year make sure you’re hydrated and ready for a FAB time! The theme is ‘Summer of 69’ so have your best flower crown ready ladies! Look out for our TFF MAG street team all week long and follow Pride Houston on Instagram to stay in the loop with all things PRIDE!!
