A wise woman once said "a friend isn't your friend until they helped you put some money in your pockets". If that is the case, there are quite a few people who are lacking real friends. While money isn't everything and not everyones purpose in your life is to help you level up, there is something really dope about having friends who will "put you on" and vice versa.

Over the last month or so, we've watched celebrities like Lena Waithe, and Beyoncé give their friends and mentees a leg up to cultivate their brand. Celebrities are not the only ones who are using their power to give people an opportunity to step into greatness. Whether people realize it or not, their peers, family, and colleagues are using the exact same strategies to help one another reach the top.

Women can be catty and learning to utilize each others powers instead of being envious or greedy is the best way to live a fulfilling life. Sisterhood matters in a male dominated world, ESPECIALLY if you are thriving within a corporate setting. If you're an entrepreneur and you've chosen to exist outside of a corporate setting, than you DEFINITELY need to get into the habit of leveraging relationships with other women who are close to you. Referrals and word of mouth mean everything in a world where a resume only gets you as far as who you know.

When you're looking for someone to business with, turn to your friends first. If you run into a stranger or a client who is looking for a particular service and you know one of your friends is well versed in that area, name drop and PUT THEM ON! If you're given the opportunity to create a platform or open the door for other creatives, business women, or entrepreneurs, use that opportunity to extend the olive branch to the women in your life.

Interestingly enough the more you level up in life, the more you'll notice the people around you making strides to do the same. If they are not, eventually they will fall to the wayside. Either way, you will end up in a good position with like minded people around you as long as you stay positive and keep moving forward. You will all begin to gain power at the same time. Build your village and make them strong! Don't be afraid to allow the women in your life to stand on your shoulders. Build TRUST, stay united, and make sure you put your girls on every chance you get.
