Five Signs You're in a Healthy Relationship
Relationships can be challenging but even more challenging is deciphering whether the relationship you're in is HEALTHY for you personally! Often times we get caught in situations that are less than desirable, or downright toxic to our growth.
Identifying positive relationships help us set the bar for relationships in the future whether they be romantic, career oriented, or with ourselves. TFF put together a short list to help your identify whether your relationship is healthy or not. Enjoy and share with the women in your life!
YOU'RE FREE TO BE YOU
Seems simple right? People in relationships adapt to the needs/personality of their partner without even realizing it. Recognizing the fact that you're free to be yourself in a relationship is important because you no longer have to worry about your representative leaving and taking your relationship with them. Your person loves you, you're free to be yourself, and all is well. As a result, you no longer try to force yourself into spaces you don't belong. Sweet.
THEIR FRIENDS AND FAMILY LIKE YOU AND VICE VERSA
This is a controversial topic because society glorifies "struggle love" but realistically, if your friends and family like the person you're with that's a GREAT sign! Healthy relationships need a strong support system just like any other relationship. Having friends and family on your side that encourage you to maintain a healthy relationship is essential to maintaining longevity.
YOU FEEL FREE
How many times have you heard someone say they didn't want to be in a relationship because it stifled their freedom? These people are in the wrong relationships! True love is freeing because the lines of communication are open, and trust has been established. Freedom means having a life outside of your relationship and making choices that are in YOUR best interest that your partner supports. Having personal freedom in a relationship goes hand in hand with being able to be yourself.
YOU DON'T ARGUE OFTEN
Just to be clear, couples will not always get along but arguing regularly is an obvious sign of incompatibility. It's easy to love someone but liking them is a whole different story. Maintaining a minimal amount of disagreements is a sign you are in a healthy relationship with someone you're compatible with.
The old saying "if you're not growing you're dead" is true as it pertains to relationships. If you're in a relationship with the right person they will push you in a direction to help you grow. You will learn from one another and evolve from the experiences you share. Individual and collective growth are a necessity in a heathy relationship.
