Packing as a Fashionista

Packing as a Fashionista

It’s hard to focus on your fashion blog, take all the pictures in a different outfit daily and pack like a boss.

Summer is the time for travel. Summer is the time to make the pavement your runway. But the airlines really try to make it hard for you to be a fab femme.

Let me give you my tips to packing for a weeklong trip. I want to start out with this fact: Using just a carry on is just not realistic for us all.

Get out your basics,

1.     2 pair blue jeans

2.     1 pair of black jeans

3.     1 black pencil skirt

4.     1 little black dress

Now you can take your basics and jazz them up with shirts and accessories. I personally like to take a lot of basic t-shirts, rompers and dresses to pair with kimonos, cardigans and blazers. They are all lightweight and easy to pack.

Pair all items into outfits. Two shirts per pair of jeans along with kimonos, cardigans and blazers.

NOW PUT BACK HALF OF THOSE SHIRTS, DRESSES AND ROMPERS BACK INTO YOUR CLOSET.

Most people think you need at least two to three outfits a day. But trust me you don’t. If your exploring a new city or country its very rare that you go back and forth to your hotel changing your outfit for every new location.

NOW THAT YOU HAVE FOUND YOUR OUTFITS. TAKE JUST BASIC BRAS. 1 WHITE, 1 BLACK AND 1 STRAPLESS. 10 PAIR OF PANTIES AND 6 PAIR OF SOCKS. 1 PAIR OF BASIC PUMPS. FLAT SANDALS AND TOMS OR FLATS ARE GREAT BECAUSE YOU CAN PACK MORE OF THEM WITHOUT TAKING UP A LOT OF SPACE. IF YOU MUST HAVE BOOTS WEAR THEM DON’T PACK THEM. TOILETRIES ARE SIMPLE IF YOU DON’T PACK TO MANY.

NEVER PACK BLOW DRYERS (EVERY HOTEL HAS THESE IN THE ROOMS)

As far as make up is concerned. PALETTES ARE THE BEST WAY TO GO! Eye shadow palette, bronzer palette, blush palette and a contour palette. Mascara, eyeliners, lipsticks and travel sized brushes can all go into your carry on.

These items should fit into a large suitcase if you roll up all your clothing items.

We are going to start with these easy to make recipes. I love using these recipes on a regular.

QUICHE

2 deep dish pie crust

6 large eggs

2 ½ cup of half and half

2 cups of swiss cheese

1 cup of green onions

2 cups of turkey sausage

½ teaspoon fresh ground pepper

Salt to taste

Pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees. Once the oven is hot. Cook the pie crust alone first. Take a fork to make little holes in the bottom of your crust. This will help it to not puff up. The crust should bake until its golden brown. Now while your crust is cooking. It’s time to make your filling. Beat your 8 eggs and 2 cups of half and half together. Next, you’re going to mix in the 1 cup of turkey sausage and 1 cup of green onions. Now place 1 cup cheese on the bottom each prebaked pie crust and ½ cup of turkey sausage on the of each prebaked pie crust. Pour equal parts of the filling in each prebaked pie crust. Bake for 15 to 20 mins or until it is solid. Use a tooth pick to check if it is done. (Check it from the middle of the pie)

Glazed Ham

9 – 10lb Bone in Fully cooked Ham

½ cup of yellow mustard

2 cups of brown sugar

5 cups of 7up

Rinse of ham with cold water. Place it in roasting pan. Rub ½ cup of yellow mustard over the ham. Now rub the 2 cups of brown sugar over the ham. Pour the 7up in the bottom of the roasting pan and cover the ham with foil. Bake for an 2hr 30mins on 350 degrees.

To bake Hams, Do 15 mins to each pound.

Spinach and Feta Salad

Dressing

¼ cup balsamic vinegar

¼ cup orange juice

½ cup olive oil

1 teaspoon of Dijon Mustard

Salt to taste

Salad

2- 9oz bags of spinach

1 ½ cups of feta cheese crumble

1 cup of dried cranberries

1 cup of walnuts

Mix all ingredients together for the dressing and set in fridge to chill. Mix salad ingredients together and place in fridge to keep chill. Once everything is done dress your salad with the dressing with your premade.

Grand Marnier and Mint Fruit Salad

1 cup Grand Marnier

½ tablespoon fresh mint

2 tablespoons lime juice

1 watermelon

1 honeydew melon

1 cantaloupe melon

To make the fruit salad, you can either use a melon baller or you can just cut the melon into cubes. This is the one thing you must prepare a night before. Its gives the Grand Marnier mix to marinade the fruit. In a cup mix the Grand Marnier, lime juice and fresh chopped mint together. Put that over your cut fruit. Cover and let it set overnight.

Time for Drinks

This is where people feel like they must come deep out of their pockets. Well I am here to tell you “NO DON’T DO IT”.

Don’t buy top shelf to just mix. Leave that $20 bottle of brut in the wine cabinet. Go to store and buy a few bottles of Korbel Brut and the larges bottle of Jose Cuervo.
