TFF MAG: Tell us about what inspired you to start your business and how you went about finalizing the concept.
PINK LOMEIN: My business PinkLoMein, was created after I began taking my painting, sketching and drawing very serious. I would always doodle here and there, paint a picture every once and I while and not ever show anyone my work. I started posting my work on social media sites about 3 years ago, and to my amazement, people were wanting to purchase my work. So I decided to perfect my skills, practice, and take the business full time, and present myself as a fulltime artist.
TFF: Tell us about your merchandise. What do you specialize in and who is your target audience?
PLM: My merch is Art. I specialize in acrylic paintings, hand painted leather bags, and mural work. My work sometimes centers around the afro centric vibes. I would say my target audience is the art, hip, afro centric, cool, sexy, all ages audience lol!
TFF: Starting a business is hard work. Tell us a little about the ups and downs you’ve had thus far.
PLM: Starting a business is very hard. I have learned it takes a whole lot of money to make a whole lot of money! I have had my successors and I have seen my mistakes in this journey.
TFF: What’s the proudest moment you’ve had as a business owner?
PLM: The proudest moment I have experienced, is looking over my sales for the year, and realizing that I can make it as a full time thriving artist.
TFF: Where do you see the progression of your business in five years?
In five years, I see myself having built from the ground up a studio and school of art, and having my products/art designs in a commercial setting.
TFF: Name a store/business/designer you would like to collaborate with. Why would you want to work with them?
PLM: I would love to work with Target. I think target is a perfect place to see more black art, and offer afro centric designs such as cards, pillows, mugs etc. Target is such a diverse mega store, a lot of people are familiar with this store, which would be great for my brand.
TFF: Is there anyone you would like to see endorse/wear your product?
PLM: I honestly truly love to see my everyday customers repost my work, and endorse. These are the people who are buying and the people who I paint for.
TFF: What does collaborating with TFF MAG mean for your brand?
PLM: Collaborating with TFF MAG is such an honor. TFF MAG is an amazing platform for women to unite and bring positive vibes to an already dope company!
